About New York City Police Foundation Gala:
Proceeds will benefit The New York City Police Foundation, Inc., which was established in 1971 by business and civic leaders as an independent, non-profit organization to strengthen the services of the NYPD and to improve public safety. Working closely with Police Commissioner Kelly, the Foundation assists the department's efforts to enhance counter terrorism measures, to strengthen crime-fighting strategies, and to attract new talent to the NYPD. The Foundation has invested over $100 million in innovative programs including the International Liaison Program, the Real Time Crime Center, Gun Stop and Crime Stoppers. These programs have helped the NYPD drive crime down to the lowest levels in four decades and build a counter terrorism model that is recognized worldwide. It is the only organization authorized to raise funds for the NYPD.
