CCE Spring Luncheon
03/24/2010 - By Palm Beach, FL

CCE Spring Luncheon

It was a perfect spring day as guests gathered for the Center for Creative Education’s eleventh annual Spring Luncheon held at the home of Ruth and Ted Baum.

Known to bring out the artist in each attendee, the event had the more than 250 guests painting on canvas after enjoying a cocktail reception, seated lunch and a performance by U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School students.

“The day couldn’t have been better,” said Tom Pilecki, executive director of CCE. “We are grateful to our honorary chairman, Kenn Karakul, and our hosts Ruth and Ted Baum, who were so gracious to open their magnificent home for the luncheon. It was a beautiful afternoon and we thank everyone who came to support us – and to learn more about what CCE programming is all about.”

U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School students put on a performance based on what they were learning through CCE’s Project GROW - a comprehensive, curriculum-based wellness program designed to demonstrate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle for children. After Pilecki explained the program, luncheon guests participated in one aspect of the program by painting how eating healthy foods makes them feel.

“Our guests always love that this event really shows what CCE is all about,” said Karakul, who also serves as chairman of CCE’s Board of Directors. “It’s actually more fun to have the guests participate so they experience first hand what CCE artists are teaching students through in- and after-school programs.”

Proceeds from the Luncheon benefit CCE programming. CCE is a not-for-profit educational organization that supports partnerships among schools, arts and cultural organizations, artists, community-based organizations, and human service providers in order to integrate the arts into academic curriculum and out-of-school activities in Palm Beach County.

Guests also learned about the recent $800,000 boost to CCE's capital campaign for the John and Tussi Kluge Center for Creative Education (CCE) in West Palm Beach’s Northwood Village. Thanks to funds allocated by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, construction will resume on the Center with hopes of opening its doors before the end of 2010.
