Cocktails for a Cure

A Fun and Rewarding Evening of Entertainment to benefit the PKD Foundation and support Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Research, Education & Awareness.

The event was organized by Darien and Josephine (Josie) DaCosta, from Suffern, NY, who have been volunteering for the PKD Foundation since 2009.. Josie was diagnosed with PKD in late 2008; her condition got progressively worse over the next year, and even though she was fortunate enough to receive a living donor transplant from her sister in October 2009, she still has PKD.

PKD is one of the most common life-threatening genetic diseases, affecting 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people worldwide. In fact, it affects more people than Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, and sickle cell anemia --combined! Still, few people know about it. There is no treatment and no cure... YET. The PKD Foundation is the only organization worldwide dedicated to fighting PKD through research, education, advocacy, support and awareness. Our goal is simple - to discover and deliver treatments and a cure for PKD.
