Craftsman Homecoming
10/16/2010 - By Mountain Lakes, NJ

Craftsman Homecoming

The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms kicked off a yearlong centennial celebration with the Craftsman Homecoming Gala at the historic Mountain Lakes Club.

John H. Bryan, the retired chairman and chief executive officer of Sara Lee Corporation, served as the event’s Honorary Chair. The gala followed a day-long symposium on Gustav Stickley which was sponsored by the Stickley Museum and hosted by the Newark Museum. Devotees of Gustav Stickley’s design traveled from 11 states to participate in the gala which was co-chaired by Ann Reynolds and Robert C. Burchell. The evening included cocktails, gourmet dinner, a live and a silent auction, and dancing to the music of the Andy Sherwood Trio. The gala’s auctioneer was David Rago, well known for his frequent appearances on Antiques Roadshow. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the museum’s 2010 Als Ik Kan Award to John H. Bryan.

The event raised over $140,000 to support the care of the National Historic Landmark, Craftsman Farms. Craftsman Farms is the country estate of Gustav Stickley, and is the only home this famous designer ever conceived and built for his own use.
