Evening of Ethical Shopping
03/10/2010 - By New York, NY

Evening of Ethical Shopping

Three organizations committed to the empowerment of women around the world came together for “An Evening of Ethical Shopping and Cocktails” at The Ana Tzarev Gallery on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

The vendors included Same Sky bracelets made by women in Rwanda, the FEED Foundation’s FEED bags and Hands Up Not Handouts jewelry collections from Rwanda and Palestine. All proceeds from accessories sold will go back to the organizations dedicated to empowering women and providing aid to underserved communities around the world.

Francine Lefrak (founder of Same Sky), Bobby Sager, Elaine Sager, and Tess Sager (co-founders of Sager Family Foundation’s Hands Up Not Handouts initiative), and Lauren Bush and Ellen Gustafson (co-founders of The FEED Foundation) hosted an Evening of Ethical Shopping with other supporters and VIP guests that included Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford (Ambassador for Hands Up), Lynn Whitfield, Deborah Norville, Nicole Sexton, Wendy Diamond, CNN/HLN correspondent Sunny Hostin, Unicef’s Executive Director Ann Veneman, Speaker of the New York City Council Christine Quinn, Rwandan Ambassador Eugene-Richard Gasana, Steven Beltrani, Rita Crosby and Donna D’Cruz.

Over 300 guests attended and shopped ‘till they dropped, leaving the gallery with FEED bags, Same Sky bracelets, and Hands Up Not Handouts jewelry.
