On Wednesday, November 16th, French Heritage Society (FHS) honored The Royal Families of Fontainebleau at the Metropolitan Club, 1 East 60th Street at the 4th Annual Gala Dinner Dance.

The event was held under the high patronage of His Excellency François Delattre, Ambassador of France to the U.S. and Ambassador Gérard Araud, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations and Mr. Philippe Lalliot, Consul General of France in New York. FHS Chairman Elizabeth Stribling, FHS President Comte Denis de Kergorlay and other French and American notables. The Chairmen for the evening were CeCe Black, Margo Langenberg, Mitzi Perdue and Jean Shafiroff. New York Co-Chairmen were Odile de Schiétère-Longchampt and Guy N. Robinson.

French Heritage Society Board Member George Sape again served as Wine Consultant for a thematic meal relating to Fontainebleau. An Auction featured opportunities to sponsor some of FHS’s educational programs, which included trans-Atlantic internships for American and French students in a cross-cultural experience within their particular field. A Grand Prize trip for two to Paris and the Loire Valley was auctioned. Music by The Bob Hardwick Sound kept guests on their feet and dancing the night away.

The Gala was in anticipation of FHS’s 30th Anniversary, on October 13, 2012, which will include a cultural and culinary trip through Gascony. The celebration will culminate in a spectacular Gala Dinner, Ball and a fireworks finale at the legendary Château de Fontainebleau

French Heritage Society was founded in 1982 as a two way street for Americans and French to share their love of historic architecture. FHS has contributed to almost 500 restoration grants and helped secure almost $18 million dollars for historic monuments, buildings and gardens in every department in France and to properties in the United States that reflect France’s historic influence. FHS has intervened after numerous natural disasters such as the 1999 storms in France and Hurricanes Hugo and Katrina in the U.S. FHS also organizes unique student internship opportunities in both countries and offers enriching cultural trips in France and the U.S. for its members. There are 13 Chapters in the United States and one in Paris.
