Heartbeats of the World Evening with Steve Ross

Dr. Karlene ChinQuee, founder and CEO, hosted a concert for the benefit of Heartbeats of the World at the Merkin Concert Hall on Wednesday, October 27, 2010.

Recent hurricanes have produced an urgent need for funding. Steve Ross the “Crown Prince of New York Cabaret” performed the music of Noel Coward, Cole Porter. He was ably assisted by Evan Stern and Gail Nelson, who was a star in Porgy and Bess and Bubbling Brown Sugar.

The mission of Heartbeats www.HowUnited.org is to enrich the lives of women, adolescents, and children in underserved areas of the world by providing medical resources and educational opportunities to address poverty, unemployment and the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and teenage pregnancy.

WPIX TV’s Marvin Scott introduced the illustrious group of attendees, which included Tracey Blackwood, Deputy General Counsel of Jamaica, Rev. Calvin McIntyre, Honorary Advisor of Heartbeats of the World, Harry Fouché, former Consul General of Haiti; and Karl Rodney, CEO, and Faye Rodney, President of Carib News. Robert DeSouza, CEO of Trans-Continental Shippers, and voice of radio station WGBB, introduced Pat Chin O.D., Sabrina HoSang, Co-Chairpersons for the event.
