Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Gem of an Evening Gala

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) Gem of an Evening Gala was held February 6th, 2010 at the Henry M. Flagler Museum.

Commemorating its 25th year and originating at the Flagler on Palm Beach, Gem of an Evening has raised an estimated $18.3 million for diabetes research since its inception in 1985.

Gala Honorary Chairmen included Julia Chandler Boss, David and Rhoda Chase, Stanley and Gay Gaines, Michelle McGann, Sally Neff and Mark Stevens; Cindy Watts served as committee chairman. PNC Wealth Management was the premier sponsor with Tiffany & Co. as the exclusive raffle sponsor.

The evening included a cocktail reception in the Grand Hall following by dinner and dancing in the Flagler’s Kenan Pavilion along with a live auction and JDRF’s signature Fund A Cure. Proceeds raised benefit research and education programs in the search of better treatment options and ultimately a cure for diabetes.

This year’s Gala was dedicated to the memory of Stanley Noyes Gaines, Jr. and to all of those persons lost due to diabetes and its complications.

JDRF International is a non profit charitable organization committed to the funding of research with the goal of a cure for diabetes. After the U.S. government, JDRF is the largest provider of diabetes research in the world – allocating over $1.4 billion since its inception and operating with an 82% efficiency ratio.
