Manthropy Summer Party and Date Auction
06/15/2010 - By New York, NY

Manthropy Summer Party and Date Auction

Manthropy hosted its Summer Party and Date Auction on June 15th, at the tony private club, Soho House, New York, with handsome bachelors that gathered in the 5th Floor Library Party Room.

The 200 guests mingled during a cocktail hour sponsored by Bulldog Gin Company with classic gin and tonics and Bulldog Punch as girls in summer cocktail attire began to meet the men and jockey for position at the silent auction table where the less bold bachelors would be auctioned off for one date. Bid sheets on clipboards announced each lot number - lot #1, a lawyer at a big firm who likes skiing and occasionally getting flowers from a girl, lot #2, a business man who also teaches trapeze on the weekend – a framed 8 x 10 glossy nearby reminded bidders of what they would be gazing at across the dinner table. With fine restaurants like Abe and Arthurs, Standard Grill, The Oak Bar, and Felix donating dinners-for-two, and prices starting at $150, and including dinner and a great guy, this was shaping up to be the bargain of the year – and all for a great cause and including a chance for love, or at least romance.

Finally it was time for the live auction, and hosts Tamsen Fadal (WPIX Anchor) and Matt Titus, a husband and wife team with their own dating service, called each bachelor up to the front of the room and asked an important question – “what makes you a manthropy man?” It soon became clear that these guys were no shrinking violets, as each volunteered to take a stroll down the red carpeted improvised catwalk for the cause.

Each winning bidder was photographed with her bachelor in the “winner’s circle” and dinner certificates were dispensed, and contact information exchanged. The Children’s Aid Society, which provides supportive services to New York City kids from birth through young adulthood and centers throughout the city had raised $6,000 and twenty lucky women had hot dates to boot.
