New York City Opera Fall Gala: An Evening with Christine Brewer

NYC Opera celebrated the start of the new season with a black tie evening featuring a one-night-only concert with Grammy Award-winning American soprano Christine Brewer & the New York City Opera Orchestra conducted by Music Director George Manahan.

The concert was followed by dinner and dancing on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater. A special menu was created by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group. This year the Gala successfully raised over $1 million.

Christine Brewer is currently one of the world’s most sought-after sopranos. Her performances are marked with her own unique timbre, at once warm and brilliant, combined with a vibrant personality and emotional honesty reminiscent of the great sopranos of the past. Her range, golden tone, boundless power, and control make her a favorite of the stage as well as a sought-after recording artist. Her performance at the Fall Gala included excerpts from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, Puccini’s Turandot, and a selection of American Songbook favorites.
