Orchesis Alumni Reunion Show
10/10/2009

Orchesis Alumni Reunion Show

The Orchesis Alumni Reunion Show was organized by Alumni of the Columbia University Orchesis Dance Group.

This group is known for creating a show every semester, which is student run, student choreographed, and student performed. The reunion show provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with one another and see what they have accomplished in the years following their time at Columbia University/Barnard College and where their lives are going.

The show itself was comprised of orginial works by Orchesis Alumni as well as one piece by a current Orchesis student. All proceeds from the show benefited Educational Programming at Pentacle, a 501(c)(3) non-profit service organization for the performing arts. Pentacle's Educational Programming spreads a unique Orchesis-like experience to New York City middle school, high school and college students with an opportunity to explore many different careers in dance. Through hands-on training, students identify new areas of interest, practice skills, and test their capabilities while refining their career goals.

Pentacle's exemplary projects and services have for over three decades been a fundamental resource for the contemporary performing arts community. Pentacle operates at the intersection of choreographic talent and infrastructural need, enabling some of our most exciting dance and performance artists to do what they do best...create works of enduring art.
