On November 11, 2009, over 300 people joined the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) for its “Raising the Stakes” fundraiser at New York City’s Capitale. Through a little friendly competition, this event raised both awareness of Parkinson’s and funds to support PDF’s efforts to find the causes of and a cure for the disease.

Honorary Chair Annie Duke, poker icon and runner-up on NBC’s hit show Celebrity Apprentice, started the night off with a rousing speech dedicated to the nearly one million people in the US currently living with Parkinson’s. Guests enjoyed dancing, dinner, cocktails, casino games and prizes. The grand prize winner of the night won a private poker lesson with Ms. Duke. Others won luxury trips, spa packages, exciting nights on the town in New York City and much more.

At the end of the night, Ms. Duke remarked, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have supported a great cause through one of my passions…poker! There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s and I am honored to be a part of the efforts that will bring us one step closer to finding it.”
