Printshop Benefit 2011

The Lower East Side Printshop welcomed nearly 200 guests to the Printshop Benefit 2011 on February 16, which was held in the stunning Affirmation Arts Gallery.

Auctioneer Guy Bennett—former Christie's VP with a career spanning 12 years—drummed up the excitement as the patrons bid generously. Auction offerings included works by William Cordova, Jim Dine, Carl Fudge, Glenn Ligon, Shinique Smith, and Joan Snyder. And, an open sale allowed guests to collect works for the duration of the event including those by Nancy Blum, Joe Fig, James Siena, and Kate Temple.

Proceeds from the annual benefit support the Printshop's services to contemporary artists of all creative backgrounds, including open and often free access to professional studio space, stipends, technical assistance, and career advancement services. Through exhibitions, publications, and educational programming the Printshop promotes better understanding and appreciation of printmaking and contemporary art. Serving more than 160 artists annually, the Printshop is the largest residency program for printmaking in the US and serves a growing, broad, and diverse audience of artists, arts professionals, students, and the general public.
