Second Annual Architects and Designers Tag Sale to Benefit NYSCF

New York Stem Cell Foundation Founder and CEO Susan Solomon...

persuaded her husband, New Yorker architecture critic Paul Goldberger, to part with a three-inch high replica of the Whitney Museum from his treasured miniature building collection for the Second Annual Architects and Designers Tag Sale to benefit NYSCF. Not to beoutdone, architect Richard Meier, who founded and co-chairs the event with Goldberger, donated full-size French wrought iron garden chairs. Other amazing treasures at the uber sale included a coffee table from the ocean liner the SS United States (aka The Big U); a 19th Century Windsor Bench from Jamie Drake, a pair of antique urns from Charlotte Moss; antique rattan settees from the personal collection of Jodie and John Eastman; a private garden tour with Edmond Hollander, a two-hour design consultation with Clodagh, and a consultation and shopping trip with Charles Pavarini, III.

Every item at the tag sale was generously donated from the stock of a well known architect, designer, store or manufacturer, and all proceeds benefited NYSCF's program of helping accelerate the most advanced stem cell research. The stellar list of donors also included Paul Aferiat, Erica Broberg, Diane Burgio, Jill Dienst, John Dransfield, Mark Epstein, Ronne Fisher, Joe Ginsberg, Carole Gratale, Ellen Hanson, Michael Haverland, Barbara Jakobson, Lennegan & Marantz, Lorin Marsh, 2Michaels Design, Dennis Miller, Wendy Moonan, Joe Nahem, Jaquelin T. Robertson, Gil Shapiro, Peter Stamberg, Andrea Stark, Stedila Design, Fred Stelle, Judith Stockman, Jeff Stone, The American Wing, Oskar Torres, Calvin Tsao, Peter Wolf and Gregory Zwirko. The event was sponsored and hosted by Silas Marder Gallery/Marders in Bridgehampton, and Nick and Toni's Restaurant served as honorary sponsor.

Founded in 2005, NYSCF is a privately funded foundation dedicated to furthering stem cell research to advance the search for cures of the major diseases of our time. In March 2006, it opened New York City's first privately funded stem cell laboratory.

In addition to its role in public education, NYSCF conducts groundbreaking scientific research; supports researchers and scientists through grants, fellowships and symposia; and runs collaborative, state-of-the-art research facilities supported entirely by private funds and directly focused on curing disease. www.nyscf.org<http://www.nyscf.org>.
