SOUTH FLORIDA SCIENCE MUSEUM CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF MAKING MEMORIES

As Fete du Soleil host committee members gathered with their children for a recent kick-off party at the South Florida Science Museum

The memories nearly flooded the 50-year-old, non-profit institution dedicated to exciting curiosity and furthering the understanding and appreciation of science and technology. The upcoming Fete du Soleil benefit is scheduled for April 1 at a private Palm Beach estate and will honor the Museum’s “founding mothers,” members of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches.

FDuring the event, guests will have a sneak peek at a few of the exhibits which have made the Museum such a memory point for area residents. Saks Fifth Avenue Palm Beach will present a fashion show featuring world-famous designer, Pamella Roland. Prior to the Fete, and throughout the evening, Museum supporters will have the opportunity to purchase one of 50 bottles of champagne representing each year of the Museum’s history at $500 per bottle. Each purchaser will then be registered to win an Estate Collection 18K gold bracelet with a sliding diamond clasp generously donated by Worth Avenue’s Betteridge Jewelers.

“Fete du Soleil was created by the Junior League as the Museum’s annual fundraising tradition,” said Fisher. “We are excited to toast 50 years of science at such a magnificent lakefront home and we have a spectacular evening planned. Our 50 bottles of champagne are going fast and people are really excited about the opportunity to be registered to win a gorgeous bracelet from Betteridge. We can’t wait to toast such a major milestone for the Museum!”

Chairmen for the event include Mrs. Sydelle Meyer and Mr. John Niblack, Honorary Chairmen; Host Committee Chairmen, Mrs. Frances Fisher and Mr. Matthew Lorentzen; Stewardship Council Chairmen, Mr. Dale Hedrick and Mr. Harvey Oyer, III; and Historical Chairman, Mrs. Nancy Myers.
Event grand benefactors are Frances and Jeffrey Fisher and Mrs. Mary Huiltar. Benefactors are Mrs. Sydelle Meyer, Heidi and John Niblack and Mr. Mark Stevens; and corporate sponsors include PNC Wealth Management, Saks Fifth Avenue, Betteridge, Florida Crystals, FPL, Gunster, AT&T and The Scripps Research Institute. Tickets to the April 1 Fete du Soleil are $350 per person.
