The Collegiate Chorale's 2011 Gala
11/30/2011 - By New York, NY

The Collegiate Chorale's 2011 Gala

The Chorale’s 2011 Gala honored Mrs. Mimi Levitt for her devotion to music and her longtime support of The Chorale’s artistic and education programs.

Her generosity has helped The Chorale in its efforts to offer innovative and excellent programming to the New York and international communities and has also provided students of the Side by Side education program with tremendous opportunities to rehearse and perform with The Chorale in New York City and at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.

A cocktail reception began at 6:00pm in Carnegie Hall's Rose Museum, followed by a seated dinner in the Rohatyn Room and an opera-in-concert performance at 8:00pm of Rossini's 'Moise et Pharaon', which brilliantly engages the chorus and soloists to tell the dramatic story of Moses and his brother, Eliezer, who liberated the Hebrew people from Egypt with the help of plagues and the parting of the Red Sea. Music Director James Bagwell conducted the concert. Joining The Chorale was the American Symphony Orchestra, legendary bass-baritone James Morris, the 2011 Richard Tucker Award Winner Angela Meade and renowned soloists Eric Cutler, Kyle Ketelson and Marina Rebeka. Dessert was served in the Rohatyn Room during intermission.
