The Right To Dream Academy Benefit First Annual Gala
06/04/2009 - By NYC

The Right To Dream Academy Benefit First Annual Gala

The Right To Dream Academy Benefit held its first annual gala on June 4th, 2009.

A number of New York's leaders in the fashion, real estate, and finance fields came out to support the Academy -- a school in Ghana which provides a healthy, safe, and clean environment for young boys to pursue their education, while exploring their passion for soccer. While enjoying wonderful samplings from Danny Meyer's Hudson Yards Catering, as well as delicious cocktails from Mako Vodka, young professionals and their superiors raised $65,000, all of which will go to building a new Academy in Ghana. A silent and live auction rounded out the evening, and guests bid on everything to a week's vacation in Park City, Utah, to tickets to New York's new Yankee Stadium. A number of boys from the Academy, most of whom know have sponsor families in the tristate region, were also present at the event. Many of the boys attend private boarding academies such as The Hotchkiss School and Kent Academy, all with the help of generous American families.

The committee members, all of whom are 23-25 years old, and all young professionals in New York City, are extremely pleased with the turn out, and looking forward to an even bigger event next year! Because now, more than ever, everyone deserves the right to dream...
