The Tribeca Sock Hop: Twist & Shout for CCOC

In 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear reactor exploded-- resulting in the worst environmental disaster in history... in the 1950s, the era of rock & roll exploded-- redefining American culture...

and, on August 6, 2009, the two decades merged at Children of Chernobyl's Tribeca Sock Hop-- where the healing powers of rock & roll saved the lives of many sick children.

The Transformers, a 10 person indie rock band, played the classic sounds of Motown in front of a sold out audience at the 92YTribeca. Over 600 people-- including many poodle skirt clad girls and Greaser guys mastered the Hand Jive, did the Mashed Potato, and, most importantly, raised money and awareness for the lifesaving charity, Children of Chernobyl.

CCOC has rescued 2,646 children from the devastated region of Chernobyl on 87 rescue missions. As a result of the money raised at the Tribeca Sock Hop, plans for the 88th rescue mission are already underway.

The Transformers are available for private bookings including weddings, bar mitzvahs, and corporate events. Please contact Rachel Zisser (Rachel@ccoc.net) for more information.
