Tisch Gala 2009

Tisch School of the Arts Raises $1.2 Million at Gala for Scholarships for Young Artists

Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Marcia Gay Harden, Sheila Nevins & Diana King Honored

Last night, Tisch School of the Arts honored Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Marcia Gay Harden, Sheila Nevins and Diana King at their annual gala, This is Tisch!, which raised $1.2 million to create scholarships for Tisch students.

Presenters that evening included Richard Plepler, Sir Howard Stringer, Spike Lee and Tony Kushner. Among the participants were Glenn Close, Samuel L. Jackson, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Johnston (Host), Mario Cantone, Jeff Zucker, Ron Meyer, and Carmen Marc Valvo.

Tisch School of the Arts Dean, Mary Schmidt Campbell, noted, “The 2009 gala raised critical scholarship dollars which will be used to support those students who would not otherwise be able to afford an NYU Tisch education. In an ambitious effort to scout new talent as proactively as elite schools scout for members of their athletic teams, the Tisch School is committed to finding, enrolling and retaining the country's most talented young people, regardless of their ability to pay.”
