UJA-FEDERATION OF NEW YORK HONORS DOUG HERZOG AND COMEDY CENTRAL

Special Performance by Jon Stewart and Joan Rivers

UJA-Federation of New York’s Entertainment, Media & Communications Division honors Doug Herzog, president of MTV Networks Entertainment Group, and Comedy Central at its Broadcast, Cable & Video Award Celebration, Thursday, April 23, at B.B. Kings Blues Club and Grill, 237 West 42nd Street in Manhattan, at 6:30 p.m.

Comedian Joan Rivers will open the ceremony emceed by The Daily Show correspondent John Oliver; comedian Jon Stewart will close the ceremony with a special performance in honor of Comedy Central.

Judy McGrath, chairman and chief executive officer of MTV Networks, will present Herzog with his award in recognition of his generous philanthropic contributions, his incredible professional accomplishments, and his exemplary leadership within the philanthropic community.

“I am very pleased to receive this great honor from UJA-Federation, which helps so many people in need throughout the New York metropolitan area,” said Herzog. “Given the current economic crisis and the extraordinary human-service demands it has created, UJA-Federation’s need for funding is more critical than ever, so I am thrilled this event will help support the important mission of UJA-Federation and its beneficiary agencies.”

Herzog, who began his career at Turner Broadcasting System, has held senior positions with MTV Networks, USA Network, Comedy Central, and Fox. He has been responsible for launching the programming of many of today’s most notable shows, including The Real World, Road Rules, MTV Movie Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Monk, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, South Park, and many more.

Herzog supports a variety of organizations and social activities, including serving on the boards of his alma mater, Emerson College in Boston, as well as the Los Angeles Chapter of Teach for America. Herzog and Comedy Central, in partnership with Jon Stewart’s Busboy Productions, are also major supporters of Autism Speaks.
